The Engineering and Technology Management Construction Management team at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette recently traveled to Salt Lake City to compete in the ABC National Construction Management Competition. The trip provided students with valuable hands-on learning and exposure to real-world construction practices.

Throughout the competition, students applied their knowledge in areas such as estimating, scheduling, project management, quality control, and safety within a highly competitive, industry-driven environment. In addition to competing, students engaged with industry professionals, observed top team presentations, and gained insight into current construction practices and expectations.

The team demonstrated strong progress this year, improving performance across all categories compared to the previous year. This reflects a clear commitment to continuous improvement and growth within the program.

The experience extended beyond the primary competition team. Student alternates made the most of the opportunity by collaborating with peers from other institutions, building an impressive LEGO city, and expanding their professional network.

The competition team was supported by industry partners through their time, talent, and resources, as pictured below. Thank you to ABC Pelican, MMR, and LEMOINE for their continued support of our team's travel costs.

This experience continues to reinforce the importance of hands-on learning within the Construction Management program, as well as the value of industry engagement in preparing students for successful careers in construction.

We are proud of the team’s effort, growth, and representation of the program. Planning is already underway for next year, with 2027 team auditions scheduled for April.
