The Engineering and Technology Management Department at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette was pleased to welcome Roy Farmer as a guest speaker for ENGT 369: Construction and Industrial Safety.

With over 40 years of industry experience, Roy provided students with valuable real-world perspectives on workplace safety. He introduced the concept that “Thinking is a Control,” emphasizing the importance of mentally working through tasks before exposure to potential hazards. His approach reinforced the role of proactive thinking as a critical component of effective safety management.

Roy’s insights offered students a deeper understanding of how safety principles are applied in practice, helping to bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world application. Experiences like these play an important role in preparing students to enter the workforce with a strong foundation in safety awareness and decision-making.
