  • Outstanding Academic Advisor Award, University of Louisiana at Lafayette, 2008.
  • Best Paper Award at the 6th International Conference on Virtual Concept, Playa del Carmen, Mexico, November, 2006.
  • Certificate of Appreciation from Program of Excellence in Teaching, University of Missouri-Columbia, January 2005.

Establishment of the Laboratory for Composite Materials (LCM)

Dr. Khattab established the Laboratory for Composite Materials (LCM) at UL Lafayette. LCM creates an interdisciplinary collaboration environment between several engineering fields, such as Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, and Engineering Technology. Over the last four years, over 20 graduate and undergraduate students, from different engineering disciplines, have been trained in LCM and worked as graduate or undergraduate research assistants. LCM has research collaborators from Dr. Khattab’s colleagues at UL Lafayette and also from outside the university. LCM has national collaboration with one NASA research center and also has international research collaboration with Wuhan Institute of Technology in China. Currently, LCM has four graduate research assistants and four undergraduate research assistants.
